Balafon Bounce - The Evolution Of Somali Disco-Funk with
Bananas Overdose |
|

In the 1970s and 80s,
Mogadishu and Hargeisa pulsed with the sounds of Somali
funk, disco, soul, and reggae. Musicians with afros and
bell-bottoms filled the cityâs nightclubs, blending
traditional Somali rhythms with global grooves to create
a fresh, funky sound that dominated the airwaves. This
âgolden eraâ of Somali music was vibrant yet short-lived,
as civil war scattered artists across the world and
disrupted the thriving scene. Today, Somali disco funk
and its revival remains a powerful reminder of the
resilience of music. |

and the crisp conversation of drums and trumpet weaving
a story you feel. This International Jazz Day, let the
music carry you. From smooth, soul-soaked melodies to
upbeat rhythms that make your shoulders sway without
permission, every note will find its way to you; an
afternoon perfect for hanging out at the food court,

Midlife Men: A Comedy Show |
|

Three men, three
perspectives, and a lifetime of questionable decisionsâMidlife
Men: A Comedy Show dives headfirst into the chaos of
adulthood with sharp wit and hard-earned humor.
Featuring Ty Ngachira, Emmanuel Kisiangani, and Doug
Mutai, this show blends personal stories, social
observations, and brutally honest reflections on life,
relationships, and everything in between. Itâs comedy
that feels familiar - equal parts hilarious and
uncomfortably true. Come for the laughs, stay for the
realization that youâre not the only one figuring it out
as you go. |

Mapenzi Wewe |
|

What happens when two of
Kenyaâs most compelling creative voices step into one
fully scripted production? Mapenzi Wewe. Rooted in the
rhythm of Nairobi - its softness and its edge - this
concept show blends poetry, live music, and raw
storytelling into a 90-minute emotional journey that
will make you laugh, reflect, ache⌠and maybe even call
someone after. âMapenzi weweâ - a phrase we know too
well.Affection. Frustration. Longing. Devotion. The kind
of words that live in our streets, our texts, our
silences. Through a carefully crafted theatrical
narrative, Gufy Dox and Billy Black explore love in all
its forms - romantic, filial, ancestral, selfless,
complicated. Tender where it needs to be. Honest where
it must be. Three nights only. Limited seating. Early
Bird tickets are now on sale. Donât hear about this one
